The thesaurus-based reference annotator inKnowledge allows textual data annotation with terms of a specific SKOS dictionary. The annotator locates the occurrences of the specific dictionary terms in a text and produces the relevant annotations. Its operation makes use of efficient direct search techniques for textual terms in texts. Depending on the language of the text and the thesaurus, the annotator can use additional techniques, such as lemmatization, to improve the results it produces.
The annotator is provided as a REST service, which takes as input text segments and the SKOS dictionary used for the annotation, and returns a set of the terms found.

InKnowledge implements a REST service for linking free text metadata to terms of a given SKOS thesaurus.
