inPlace georeference annotator

It is supported by the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA)
The georeference annotator allows metadata fields bearing geospatial designations to be annotated based on the vocabulary provided by the Geonames knowledge base. In order to produce better results, the annotator uses the hierarchical structure of the geographical areas provided by Geonames based on the administrative regions of each country, so that the more general geographical references are taken into account to determine the term with which the more specific references will be matched.
The annotator is provided as a REST service, which accepts as input the relevant text fields and returns a set of the Geonames knowledge base terms found.
